"Se trata de un hotel excelente con mucha luz. Las Habitaciones son muy grandes y muy limpias. La comida del restaurante es de muy buena calidad. Lo mejor de todo es el servicio, gente muy profesional y muy amable. Muy recomendable. "

Reviewer: 2 Girls from London Date visited: 23rd Nov - 25th Nov Basically the hotel is very nice and clean and spacious - we asked to be upgraded to a suite as it was my friends birthday and the room was very nice. The hotel bar was okay although a bit quiet and the same for the restaurant - although dinner was very nice. Breakfast was the best part of the meals - very plentiful buffet only for Euros 9. The only problem I would say is the fact that the Hotel is advertised as being in Las Rozas when in fact it is in Las Matas - so dont get caught out and get off at Las Rozas train station like we did and then thought we were lost - finally we found out it was in Las Matas and got off the train there - thinking it was right in front of us - oh no! You have to walk over the bridge that connects the train side to the other side of the motorway and then walk up for about 5-8 minutes - finally we found it!! The reciptionist called Jesus was very nice! One word of warning -if you plan to go to the casino make sure you bring ID with you (i.e. passport or driving licence) as they will not let you in otherwise - as happened to me (another receptionist on that evening at the hotel did not tell us that we needed to do this) so we spent the night in the bar outside the casino - not bad either. So all in all its just the location of the hotel that can be a potential problem if you do not have a car - but once you know your way and use the trains to get into central Madrid it works quite well - in the evening they stop running around 11:30pm - the Underground stops around 2pm-ish - there are night buses but you probably end up getting a taxi. One other thing i can recommend is to eat the Madrid stew (should be mentioned in any good guide) - that was mana from heaven and the Rioja - well need I say more.

Loved the hotel

This hotel was great to stay in..Rooms were very spacious including a lounge area and bedroom..However, we would have liked to have had more things going on at the hotel..Its more aimed at buisness people rather than families making us seem like outsiders..On our first night we were excited to see a swimming poll from our hotel windows..but little did we know that it was owned by another hotel..We were told by Gran Hotel Almenar staff that this hotel was for "dirty" people..Although I loved the hotel..I would not reccomend it as a family hotel..especially as there is not much near by apart from a train station and supermarket..Places can be visited by train very easily though..For tips: Some of the places we visited were Principe Pio shopping centre, The zoo, City centre where we had a two day bus tour (tickets valid for two days)...

Excellent service all round and very good value for money; easy access by train. The lady we met at the reception on the first day was very helpful , she provided us with all necessary information on moving around and places to go in and around spain. Rooms were very spacious and clean. I will 100% recommend this hotel.

On short notice, my husband & I flew from Casablanca to Madrid for a 4-day weekend, and not wanting to pay $250/night in the city, we decided to book the $85 suite at this hotel. It was extremely easy to get in & out of Madrid by commuter train (trains leave/arrive at least every half hour but not after midnight), and the station is walking distance (though a bit tricky w/ a suitcase; we weren't able to find a taxi at the station upon our initial arrival so the walk to the hotel was awkward). The suite appeared lovely, large, though modern, not cozy. However, when we woke up the first morning, we were greeted to a mini-waterfall in the bathroom - water was dripping from the ceiling (lighting-fixture) in the bathroom and had drenched all of the belongings we'd placed there. When we called the front desk, they told us they'd move us to another room. But 2 hours later, no rooms were yet available. They agreed to offer us the breakfast while we waited, but still, no new rooms were available. In the meantime, we couldn't use the bathroom to even take a shower (they'd asked us to keep the lights out after seeing the problem). Not wanting to spoil the day completely, we finally agreed to take a room w/ 2 twin beds. Not exactly good for a romantic getaway weekend, but at least they moved the beds together. The hotel had no American style converters, though we made requests for them each day, and each day were told "tomorrow we'll have one for you". Nope, they never found one. If not for my gifted husband originally trained as an electrician, we would not have been able to charge or use our laptop computer or camera. My last complaint relates to the neighborhood. We were stuck without lunch on the day of our departure, because the hotel does not offer room service before 5:00PM, the hotel restaurant is not open for lunch, and there are no other restaurants nearby open for lunch. There is a very nice Argentinean restaurant next door, but it is only open for dinner. I would not stay here again, and would not recommend it to others either. I'll pay the extra money to stay in the city.
