This is a perfect location for tourist Madrid. A few metres to subway, Gran Via shopping, and only 10 minutes walk to nightlife areas, tapas bars, cafes, with lots of choice. The hotel rooms are typically European, that is on the small side, but comfortable, perfectly clean and good bathrooms - everything worked! Breakfasts were average and OK, bearing in mind they don't go in for cereals and fresh bread/toast much in this part of the world. Front desk staff were courteous and helpful if not bubbling over and we had no problems.

I stayed at this hotel a few weeks ago and it was ok. The location is great (really good) and there is a large breakfast. The bathroom is very big and the beds were comfortable. It was a warm day in March and we wanted to open the windows for fresh air, but the windows only opened a few inches at the top (we had a room overlooking the street). I guess the A/C hadn't been turned on yet since it was still the beginning of spring. There was a bit of street noise so I would request a room not facing the street. I think there is a bar or strip club nearby with a lot of late night traffic.
For restaurants nearby- we hightly recomend Extremadura, located at Calle Libertad 13. Great food at good value and very likable staff. We had the veal with mushroom sauce and it was great! They have and English menu and the servers are very nice. Definitely not a tourist place, but a genuine Spanish experience that is super close to the Gran Via. Here is a link with more info:

Great hotel in a fantastic location. Rooms are small but very clean and the 2 sink bathrooms are excellent. Staff helped us change the time of our airport transfer for no charge. Breakfast was fine and the coffee delicious. An excellent capital city hotel.( as stated on other reviews the airport transfer driver got very lost and we spent a lot of time in the red light district looking for the hotel, even with sat nav he had to use my tourist map!)

Estupendo para las tres estrellas que tiene. Totalmente recomendado.
