Just returned from Vevey last week. Hotel as described in other people's reviews was in need of upgrade but was clean, comfortable . basic. Brerakfast was sufficient but enough to set you up for the day. Found no atmosphere really at night just a sad lonely baby grand in the bar/dining area which was a shame seeing it lends itself a bit to a 30's style venue.More could be made of that area.
Our room was clean and decent shower but did overlook the station. Trains through the night could disturb you if you sleep lightly ( look out for the goods train at 02.00 ).
Overall it did the job but don;t go if you want plush! Not that type of place.
It was very warm so air-con was well needed but not installed. Had a word with the manager he said hopefully next year. I suggested fans would be a good compromise as a temporary measure which he agreed.

We stayed there for a week in March 2007 together with our choir. The staff were utterly friendly and helpful. They guided us where to go and how to get there. The breakfasts are nice with croissants and jam, tea and coffee and also cereals and other standard breakfast ingredients. The breakfast room was cosy. The pool was old fashioned, but clean and not overcrowded. We used it every morning. The rooms were spacious and extraordinarily clean.
The hotel is overpriced, but we found that that was the case for all the hotels in the area. Our room did not face the railway station so we were not bothered by any noise. Some of the others heard the trains, but it was only one coming during the night.
It is very close to everything you need in Vevey, including two very nice shopping centres. (And with Starbucks, which I love, just around the corner.)

We had to stay at this hotel because we took a chance of booking our last night of our holiday on the hoof, as it gave us more choice of where to stay on our last day. Unfortunately as most hotels were pretty much fully booked at this time of year, this was a last minute choice and not a good one.
The location of this hotel is extremely convenient, on the doorstep of the train station which is probably the only good point.
Once we got into the hotel which looked okayish from the outside, the first thing that hit us was the old musty smell in the place. Once we were shown up to the room, the next thing that struck us was how large the room was. It had room for a large wardrobe, two seperate tables and two sinks, one in the bathroom and one in the main part of the room, by the bed. The size of the room however, was it's only good point.
The room itself was very shabby and the old furniture had seen better days. The paint was peeling off the windows and around the sink. The bed itself was twin beds pushed together. These had been made up seperately with single sheets and duvets. The beds themselves were camp bed style, with fold up metal legs for easy removal around the hotel rooms. They had not bothered to put any bed head up and the whole appearance of the bed was cheap and unnattractive.
The bathroom itself was simply stuck around the corner of the room. It had no walls or door to seperate it as a suite, very weird! The toilet simply had a folding screen around it to seperate it from the rest of the bathroom and bedroom. The bathroom furniture was reasonably modern with white clean up to date tiles. Someone had obviously spent a bit of money updating it, we could not understand why they did not turn this into a seperate room off of the bedroom. The room had blue carpet in it, which was clean but old and the two tables had disgusting old check orange table cloths on them. There had been no real attempt to colour co-ordinate the room to make it look more attractive.
There was a small tv in the room, sat on one of the tables. There was no hairdryer in the room and the complimentary soap was of a cheap quality. When we queried where the hairdryer was, the receptionist expressed surprise that it was not there, but then suggested that we ask the morning receptionist for one the following day. We were leaving the next morning so did not bother, but I doubt that one would have been produced anyway.
The beds were made up with clean linen and this did smell fresh, but the duvet was old and had not been recently laundered. The musty smell of the duvet soon overwhelmed the fresh linen smell. The pillows were extremely small and flat.
In the morning, there was breakfast offered to us as part of the booking, but we decided not to bother as we had to leave early. However when we walked past the dining room on the way out (during the time breakfast was supposed to be served), it was dark and not in use.
I did not feel we got value for money when booking this hotel as we paid £95 for the room for the night. This is the same price as we paid for the Manotel Kipling in Geneva which was of a very high quality and puts this hotel to shame. We would never stay in this hotel again!.
