We stayed here for one night as part of our honeymoon trip around NZ. The restaurant was being renovated during our stay so we weren't able to eat there in the evening, but overall we found the hotel to be comfortable, with good sized rooms, good standard of cleanliness and convenient off-road parking. There's great sea views from the rooms. The duty manager handled our check in and was very pleasant, and gave us complimentary drinks vouchers as a honeymoon gift. The hotel is on the main road through the town, so as previous reviewers have mentioned, there is some noise in the mornings from traffic travelling to the nearby port.

We originally tried to book a small boutique hotel but this was full as it was the weekend of the Art Deco Festival in Napier.
We weren't sure what to expect from this hotel but found it to be very good. Our room was on level 5 so we had sea views, although the views from the lower rooms could be restricted by the trees. The room amenities were good. The aircon unit was very noisy so we chose not to use it and you do get some noise from the passing traffic.
The location is great - a short stroll into the centre of Napier. We would definitely stay here again

Excellent location very close to most of the Art Deco buildings; all rooms overlook the sea. The rooms are standard hotel rooms, but bigger than the European standard. There are free standing air conditioning units in the rooms, why oh why was central air conditioning not installed in a hotel that opened in 2003? We stayed a Saturday night in February when it was too hot to sleep without either the air conditioning on or the window open, but then it was too noisy to sleep well – either due to the noise of the air conditioning or kids larking about outside until about 5am.

We stayed for 2 nights and had a fabulous sea view from our room. The first night we were on the ground floor and the shower was a wet room but part of the bathroom. The room was designed for someone with a disability. On showering, the whole of the bathroom floor covered with water which meant that you had to paddle through water in order to use the toilet. Not acceptable at all and we asked to change rooms. As the hotel was full, we could not move until the next day. Our second room was lovely but the air conditioning unit too noisy to leave on and it was very hot.
Wedding guests were staying in the hotel and were very noisy keeping us awake much of the night. Not really the hotel's fault but a shame because this hotel is in a great location and has a lot of good points.
The hotel had internet access and a nice dining room. Food was good.

After checking in I went to my superior room which appeared to have been cleaned. However, on checking I found hairs and nail clippings in the bath. I asked housekeeping to reclean and the maid arrived and removed the hairs and clippings by hand and I had to ask her to actually cleanse the bath which she thought was a joke ! I then checked the linen on the bed only to find that the duvet cover had blood stains. I then called for the duty manager who on hearing the problems of hygeine said that she could not deal with them and would speak to the general manager the next day. That night I could not sleep because of the noise of the trucks on the road outside going to the port (approximately 1 every 10 minutes). Although the hotel advertises air con, this is in fact a free standing machine which is extremely noisy - so do you put up with a noisy machine or open the window and put up with noisy trucks ? Next day I did not hear from the manager and the duty manager was totally disinterested. This is one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in - do not stay here !
