Stayed here for 6 nights in one of the three star rooms. The room was a little dated but clean and tidy, and everything was in good working order.
I think the hotel is undergoing a general refurb and the reception areas, lifts etc all seem quite new.
The staff were friendly and helpful. Didn't eat here except for breakfast which was unremarkable.
The definite plus point for this hotel is its very central location, with lots of bars and eating places just around the corner.
Whilst this may not have been the swishest place I've ever stayed it did exactly what was expected and I'd be happy to stay here again if I was ever back in Timisoara.

The Hotel Central in Timisoara has recently been refurbished, and it smacks of newness and cleanliness. I wasn't expecting the Ritz, but was impressed nevertheless.
Positives: Good sized room, reasonable rate (160 Lei for a two-bed single), quality breakfast, excellent location (right by Piata Victoriei), wake-up call arrived on time
Negative: External appearance is a little crappy, bed was a bit harder than I expected
Bottom Line: I only stayed at the Hotel Central for one night (during a 12-day tour through Romania), but was very satisfied. I recommend it for mid-range travelers looking for a nice, modern place to stay in the center of town.

There's nothing particularly outstanding about the Hotel Timisoara, but my sister and I had a perfectly pleasant, ordinary stay here. The hotel has two classes of rooms, "3 star" and "4 star." We stayed in a "4 star" room. I don't know if it's really worth 4 whole stars, but it was certainly a comfortable room. One decent sized bedroom with two twin beds pushed together, a table with flat screen TV, minifridge, and sparklingly new bathroom with nice little toiletries. Generally, the room was great, with only the exception of temperature. In the evening the room got very cold, and the temperature control wasn't working. We called the front desk, who said that it would be fixed in a few hours, but the heat never did come up the whole time we were there. Good thing there was an extra blanket in our room!
We enjoyed the breakfast buffet a lot -- fruit, eggs, sausage, cereal, and cold cuts. There is also a bar and big, comfortable seats in the lobby, but it was rather smokey and noisy, which wasn't very enticing.
The location is great, right in the center of town and within easy walking distance of most of the central attractions. If I ever return to Timisoara, I would probably stay here again.

I stayed in the hotel for one night (Friday) in mid July after arriving on a late flight. It is centrally located and is only around the corner from the Opera House, and about 400 m from Timisoara Cathedral.
The hotel looks like it was built in the 1970s, and my room (apart from the bathroom) hadn't been renovated since then. Despite the 1970s decor the room was clean and had satellite television. Since it was Friday night the downstairs disco was in full swing and it was a touch noisey.
There was a good selection of food at breakfast (continetal and cooked) and there was free Wi-Fi in the lobby. Staff were friendy and efficient.
For €70 I don't think you could go far wrong here. Even the American tourists at breakfast commented about how it was better than a lot of the hotels they had stayed in over the week on their Romanian tour.
