We got a very good price for this very nice hotel. Our kids really liked the pool, it was partly shallow so that a bit bigger kids could swim on their own. The pool area was really nice and with good service, pool towels and adjacent showers. The pool area was partly in shadow most of the day which spared the kids from too much sun.
The room was quite spacious and it had a nice big balcony facing in our case the river. On the grounds was a small play ground. A large bed and one extra bed was well and enough to give us a good nice sleep with two small kids. The only things that we could complain about was that the room was not cleaned when we came back around two o'clock for siesta and that the breakfast room seamed to be a bit understaffed.

Tomar was one of our favorite places in central Portugal. The castle was amazing and the town was charming. Our room at the hotel was spacious and had an unbelievable view of the park, stream, town and castle. This is definitely a modern hotel with both the pros and cons that that suggests. We used the small indoor pool and wished the weather had been warmer because the much larger outdoor one looked very inviting. We were disappointed in nearby Fatima and were glad that we hadn't stayed there.

After visiting Castelo Branco in the east we used the motorway to arrive early in Tomar. No problem to find the hotel as it is located adjacent to a nice park. We got a great room with a spacious balcony at the third floor with one of the nicest views: viewing south over the park and the old city center beyond. Everything is at walking distance. We stayed for two nights and had an excellent breakfast in two great rooms (the second one in the restaurant as it was Sunday).

What a pleasant surprise! Our first night on the mainland after eight nights in Madeira, we decided to stay in Tomar, a beautiful city with a gorgeous church/monastery of the Templars dating back to Prince Henry. Part of our objecive was being reasonably close to Fatima, which it is. We didn't know what to expect at this property, which some people complain about because it's modern. Yes, contemporary, and gracious and clean, with room A/C that works perfectly, exceptionally comfortable beds, good service and a splendid breakfast buffet.
We could easily have eaten here, since the restaurant seemed quite fine, but we were more in the mood for the hustle and bustle of a local place. The concierge sent us to an establishment, packed SRO with locals, just a few hundred yards away on the river, and it was exactly what we wanted. I had the greatest goat, my wife a local fish. A spectacular choice.
We should mention the room. We decided we'd like an upgraded room, so we paid for a deluxe accommodation. It was huge, twice the size of a standard room, and had a very large and well appointed bathroom. I actually think our stay couldn't have been any more pleasant at a Four Seasons or Ritz Carlton, and the price was certainly right.
