I only stayed here for 1 nite for my company's outing. It was for around 200 employees. Good facilities for conference - enough place and halls. Food is good and generous! and there's a bar/casino as well to kill your time at night.
The view is SUPERB!!!!!! Kronborg and sweden are in front of you... you can just walk to the charming Kronborg..
My room was medium size with small balcony but some of my collegues got really big duplex rooms - with 2 tvs, big bathrooms and big balcony.
would i recommend this place? YES.. the money is worth it. Plus it's a must to see Kronborg if you are coming to Copenhagen. Only 45 mins by train.

We spent one night at the Hotel Marienlyst on a weekend. Our room had a stunning view of the sound and Kronborg Castle, but some of the fixtures were broken. We were assigned a smoking room (which incidentally, seems to be the case in Denmark unless you ask specifically for non-smoking.) The property was loud with numerous parties going on during the weekend, and a disco right outside our balcony. The room was clean, and the bathroom was great, except for the broken shower head. The toiletries were also above average, and the bed was a dramatic improvement over any other on our trip to that point. We were able to walk into central Helsingor easily from the property, and sunrise was a stunner.

Lovely location overlooking the water with a good view of the castle in the distance. Nice grassy lawn on which to relax with a coffee or glass of wine. Large comfortable rooms, well equipped. Good restaurant (actually two but only one open when I was there). Attractive modern casino that was absolutely dead the whole time I was there. Note: I was refused casino admittance because I had shorts on, a bit annoying in the summer. Good parking situation, free (and that matters in Denmark cities). Met expectations.

My first stay at MARIENLYST was around 50 years ago! I´v always come back. Built just a few yards from the waterfront. To be satisfied, you have to ask for a room with a balcony and seeview. Everytime I have found the personal very friendly in deed. Taking time for an informal chat. The indoorswimmingpool with sauna and jacuzzi is definitely is big bonus. Try it before breakfast (only for hotelguests) early in the morning! The inbuilt Casino is cosy and you will have two free chips, when entering the hotel. Not bad for a start... The statue of Hamlet outside the hotel is of course a gag; he was only a fictionfigure in the head of William Shakespeare. The statue of Roger Danske - the Viking king - has on the other hand an real history behind it. The best excursion is to the town Hilleroed; 15 miles inland. There you´ll find the fabulous castle FREDRIKSBORG, which actually is the most visited building by tourists in Scandinavia. No wonder! ERIK SILFVERTELNING FRED

As a professionel in the travel industry, I must say I was quite dissapointed with Hotel Marienlyst. It's a shame that it doesn't live up to it's old standards when it was a spectaculor, luxurious hotel.
I was recently there with my family and not only were the staff unhelpful, they were downright rude. I sent a letter of complaint and was told to stay at another hotel! Instead of offering us a studio apartment (we are a family of 5), we were squeezed into a double room with 2 rollaways. Not only was it pricier this way, there was no way to get from each side of the room unless we walked over the beds! A word of advise, ask for all options and don't expect any suggestions.
On a positive note, beautfil property and a fun casino!
