Our family (2 adults, kids 9 and 12 years) stayed for one night at "Tampereen kylpylä" hotel & spa. Previously, we've visited the spa.
The hotel is conviniently located close to city center (≈ 1 km), in Lapinniemi. It consists of an old part (previously a cotton mill) and a new part. We stayed in the new part. Our room was large and stylish, with very wide beds (sofa bed for the kids) and a balcony. The bathroom was large and clean.
The dinner in the restaurant was tasty. In the breakfast, the children enjoyed of the possibility to make their own waffles. The restaurant was not too crowded in the morning, although the hotel was fully booked.
The spa area consists of a few pools (also various treatments are available) and jacuzzis. It is very suitable for children, but I suppose some adults might enjoy if there was also a "kid free" space. To our disappointment the pool bar was not open until in the afternoon, so we could not get any refreshments. I would say that the spa area would benefit of some facelift, it is somewhat time-worn.

Probably one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. We were given a top floor suite which was spotlessy clean, incredibly large and very well appointed. Breakfast was excellent. The whole property looked 5 stars.

This is an old mill converted into a part hotel, part timeshare resort, with apparent permanent residences as well. It takes special pride in its resort like services, such as the spa, and supposedly the most extensive indoor pool area in the city. Sadly, our week as exchange for our timeshare in San Diego, left us with bad taste in our mouths. The service in this hotel is nonexistent, and though I'm a native Finn and can communicate in Finnish, I still felt that I was not being helped no matter what the problem was. I called the concierge six times before the call was answered about mid morning!
The rooms were dismally furnished, the couch was tatty and indescribably uncomfortable. The added wicker furniture is oddly out of place, and, you guessed it, as uncomfortable as any wicker can be! The bed in our one BR apartment was two tiny single beds pushed together with barely a 2 inch mattress topper over foam....oh, my aching bones, I say! Happily, the inside apartment sauna did warm me up quite nicely, as strange as it may still be to me that even the tinyest space in Finland inevitably will have the sauna fitted in. Kitchen is adequate, but don't try to find an outlet to plug the coffee maker in...it's not there, nor is a teapot, by the way. Restaurant actually closes a half an hour earlier than advertised, and there's no mercy on hungry travelers. The 'spa' is a total ripoff at 12 euros per visit for even time share owners, so a family vacation at this place is out of the question unless you have an extra budget just for pool time. All signage is in Finnish and it was nearly impossible for even me to figure one's way around the faceless maze. City is overrun by alcoholics and bars, taxis are impossible to get, and buses will leave you waving madly at the bus stop since you clearly weren' there 'on time' to get onboard. Food, it seems, is thoroughly a good experience, especially if you know to stay away from 'normal' restaurants, and seek the lunch stands/ supermarket lunch stops for hearty home cooked meals....unless of course you feel like guessing what 'el macco junior' might be, or settle for a cubed steak drowned in bearnaise sauce.
As it stands, ithis hotel is certainly not worth the expense out of pocket, but I guess as a timeshare exchange to visit family, its OK as long as you don't expect service, cordiality, comfort, or effortless relaxation from your stay.
