"We spent two days and absolutely loved it. The yacht is a wonderful idea and the rooms are really spacious (even had a sofa bed too for our kids). They had several (6 or 7) really nice restaurant and the local town is a pictureque little holiday destionation on it's own. 2 days wasn't enough to see it..."

hotel in a cruise ship but no soap

We stayed here during the off season, so it was rather quiet and pleasant. They told us that it gets really crowded later on, which is a pity, because what is so nice about the hotel is the miles of uncrowded walking paths alongside the water that can be taken to town or elsewhere. The hotel is about a mile or so from the center of town and from the restaurants and shops located on the waterfront. The bus stop is right in front, and can be taken to visit the medieval castle in Turku, for instance. I mention this because there is not much to see or do in Naantali itself. We stayed on the attached yacht, which was an interesting experience. It really does not move and it really is a yacht; the rooms are very comfortable, and there is a couch and desk in addition to the bed. But it does feel like a cruise ship; the doors are heavy metal and cannot be held open, the bathroom small, but the view from our room was heavenly, since we were right on the water. I was getting used to the fact that we will not get soap; we finally were able to obtain one small square which fortunately lasted for the 3 days that we were there. I also found no toiletries to talk about, too few towels, and a mediocre cleaning service. The breakfast was good, but as elsewhere, at ten it disappeared with amazing speed. Dinner was just acceptable and we liked the food at the Thai rstaurant, but it was overpriced. The place really is pretty, but five stars?? I don't think so.

Much hyped hotel which failed to impress. Rooms bland and unremarkable, no aircon and too hot; bathroom dated. Hallway like a hospital. Scrum down at breakfast for a wide choice but generally bland fare. However, comfortable beds, v plush lobby and not too far to walk into lovely Naantali.

Loved the Spa!

We stayed in the Naantali Spa Hotel in December last year over Christmas, and had a wonderful time! 1) The room was clean and spacious, as was the bathroom. 2) The breakfast and the rest of the meals were very good (we had a Christmas package which included full board, breakfast, lunch and dinner over Christmas holidays which in Finland is 3 days). All the meals were buffee style and the selections were vast! The only gripe we had was the mustard herring, which contained very little mustard. 3) The spa treatments were absolutely wonderful. We had professionals treating our bodies with massage, wrap them in peat moss, or rub us all over with aromatic oils. By the time we left we were so relaxed we barely made it out of the door before determining to return! 4) During the Christmas holiday the hotel had organised a lot of different kinds of programs for both kids and adults, inlcuding the much appreciated visit by the one and only and real Santa Clause (Joulupukki) who lives in Korvatunturi above the arctic circle in Finland. We went to Turku to see the declaration of Christmas peace (an unbroken tradition since 17 century!). There was a visit to Naantali (charming old town) church for Christmas morning service, and a walk over the ice to the Moominworld (albeit we had white Christmas, it wasn't cold enough to wander over the ice so we walked by land instead). 5)The staff was excellent and multilingual. They had visitors from all over the world staying there. 6) The sauna and pool section was wonderful, several saunas (separate for men and women or one for joint family) Turkish bath, huge pool, jacuzis, and an outdoor heated pool. Staying in warm water on Christmas day, in the dusk, snow falling on your hair and nose is an unbeatable experience. There was also a pool bar. We will return for Christmas this year again. Can't wait!
