This two star hotel exceeded our expectations. My whole family stayed there on the 29th December and then again on the 30th of December and we must say for a two star hotel it was well worth it. We have stayed in worse 4 star. THe hotel reception staff are very helpful and nothing was too much for them, They speak english as well as they can but there was nothing they couldn't understand. The room is a good size, bathroom great --good pressure. Breafast being continental was great - 9 euros pp Would recommended finding the restrarant called the steack house if you like steak - great feed!!!! umm.....quimper is fantastic little town. Hotel right near city and train station. The only other thing that made our trip was the on the 30th we had to go back to the hotel at 9am to drop our bags off so we could entertain ourselves for the day before check in....but as we got there they checked us in at 9am for that night!!!! AMAZING we could not have asked for more.

This is not your dream hotel. Upon arriving for a 2-night stay, I discovered that the bathroom in my room was DIRTY--it obviously had not been cleaned. I went down to the front desk and said, "I have a problem here..." and explained. Since the cleaning staff had already gone home for the day, they just gave me an entirely different room (with a clean bathroom). Later I took a shower, which was fine until I realized that there was a bit of someone else's BLOOD on the hotel towel I had just used to dry myself off--how disgusting! Sheets/bedding were not terribly clean, and there were suspicious looking stains on some of the bedspreads. The rooms looked as if they hadn't been very well maintained. Most of the hotel staff was relatively unfriendly but there was one really nice receptionist who made a difference in my experience there. I ate dinner in the hotel restaurant, which was fairly good. The location is good, very central: very close to the main museums, the Cathedral, 2 movie theaters, the train station (well, it's a 10-minute walk). The hotel is across from a police station, so I did feel very safe! Quimper is a really fun city. I enjoyed walking all over and seeing museums, the Cathedral, the HB-Henricot factory, etc. I would not return to this hotel, based on their LOW standards of cleanliness!

Although the location is excellent, the hotel is located on a busy street, across from a police station. The hotel does not have air conditioning. I don't mind normal street noise, but the front of Hotel Mascotte faces the street, which is really quite noisy at night and even more so in the early morning. The back of the hotel faces a blank white wall. I'm not kidding! A mural painted on the wall would make all the difference. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The staff was very helpful. The breakfasts are more than "continental". They include slices of ham, cheese, hard boiled eggs, yogurt and juice. There is a parking garage next door that costs about 5 euros a night. The hotel is within about a 5 block walking distance of the train station.

The Mascotte is situted close to the river and only five minutes walk from Quimper's magnificent cathedral. It is adjacent to a low-cost carpark. But beware, whilst you can retrieve your car at any time you will not be able to park here after 19:30 or Sundays or public holidays. The rooms are spacious, comfortable with phone, TV (only News in English) and our room had a generously proportioned bathroom with a powerful over-bath shower. There was no hair drier in the room which also lacked a fridge/mini-bar or tea/coffee making facilities. Dinner is available and there are several restaurants within a few minutes walk. Breakfast is 'Continental'. Staff proved to be polite, helpful and cheerful. I would not hesitate to use this hotel again, and probably will if I return to Quimper. JPT - Nov 2003
