I stayed at this hotel for one night whilst on business in the area.
Overall I was impressed and satisfied with this hotel. The staff were very friendly & helpful.
The room I was allocated was very spacious, with large bed and sseparate lounge area. The standard of decor was very good and the room was very clean. My only negative comment would be that the bathroom was tiny compared to the overall size of the room.
I only had breakfast in the hotel, but this was well cooked and there was a good range of food available.
Wireless broadband was available and was good quality, but when will hotels realise that guests now expect this service as part of the room package rather than an extra?

Stayed at this hotel for 2 nights. On entry to room 2 large cobwebs. (Informed reception- Never got cleaned) Room very cold on arrival. Closed the bar at 11pm on Friday night- You can order drinks but pay 50p extra per drink to deliver to room. On a friday night the restaurant had ourselves and 2 business men in. This was at 9:00pm. Wife has food intolerences and the hotel took the booking when informed of this by travel agent. Chef came to table and we informed him of intolerences and how he could serve and deal with the food. After warnings regarding the foods he still served potatoes. One of the intolerent foods. Food generally average but 1 page limit of options. Not an impressive menu. Proffiter rolls with chocolate sauce was served with cold sauce- Unusual. The waiter left us in restaurant and never returned after serving desert. We just left restaurant and informed reception of this. They would make a note on our booing file. Second night ate at Windmill down the road. Excellent food, Brains beer and we informed them of intolerences, they couldn't guarantee but would try. Better meal than in hotel.
Breakfast was very poor- not the standard you would expect at a hotel. 1st and 2nd morning not even offered coffee or toast by waiting on staff.
Hotel in 70s style and badly needs refurb and staff need training on customer skills. Duty Manager has no power and can't resolve any problems. We have to wait until Wednesday to talk to hotel.Twice went to bar and needed to wait 5 mins for attention when someone came to serve(From somewhere else in hotel). Even though people in bar area.
Will never stay here again and now asking travel agent to resolve and attempt a refund on the meal for Friday night. 2 members of my family have booked to get married there- My wife and I will be staying in a B+B or hotel 30 miles away.
Awful place aviod at all costs!!

We ended up here as it was the only hotel in a 30 mile radius of Cardiff with a free room for the night The Police played at the Millennium Stadium.
I have to say that we were not disappointed with our room. We paid ?75 and had a large double with a four poster bed and a separate sitting area with two armchairs and coffee table. The bed was comfortable; the room was warm and although the decor was looking a bit tired, it was clean and we have seen worse. It was standard hotel-bland. We had no complaints about the room.
Check in was brisk rather than friendly. No smiles or small talk.
Breakfast was OK but not memorable. There did not seem to be enough tables and empty tables were not cleared promptly. There was no-one to show us to a table and we had to go in search of someone to serve us coffee. We did not try the restuarant or bar in the evening so cannot comment on these. Indeed we spent very little time in the hotel.
The abiding memory is a negative one. The receiptionist had just started to check us out when a junior member of staff appeared, presumably summoned earlier. The receptionist then abandonned our checkout with no apology and proceed to publicly reprimand the junior. They then moved into a small 'office' divided from reception by a thin wood and glass partition. They still remainined in sight and earshot and the telling-off continued for at least 5 minutes more. A queue had built up behind us but no member of staff took over the check out desk although there were others around. The receptionist made no apology when she returned. We thought it was thoroughly unprofessional to reprimand in a junior member of staff in a public place and to the inconvenience and embarassment of guests. It should have been done in private and when there was cover on the desk.

My wife and I stayed here for 1 night. I expected travel lodge standard accomadation. Basic but clean and modern.
Room rate is £110 - we booked a weekday discounted rate for a superior room at £75
This hotel is 1970's decor but is also shabby and dirty.
The reception area looks ok but the deeper you venture into the hotel the cracks appear. we arrived very tired and just needed a decent nights sleep. We did not get it as the room was uncomfortably hot, not properly cleaned, run down and damp smelling. The bathroom run down and again in need of a proper clean. The beds were so old and incredibly uncomfortable that we hardly slept. After a miserable night we were treated to a run down and dirty dinning area with accompanying poor quality breakfast. As with a previous review we were not asked if our stay was satisfactory and other guests checking out at the same time were not. I would not reccomend this hotel for a stay for any purpose at any price. It needs complete refurbishment throughout. Furthermore view any over the top positive reviews with caution. The staff were polite but the facility here is not an acceptable standard

I agree with all the other reviewers who have given this hotel a rating of 'Terrible'.
The hotel has certainly seen better days - or possibly not! All of the rooms are shabby, both the private and public, as are the corridors and even the outside of the hotel.
The lighting in the guestroom consisted of a strip light above the mirror and a small table lamp. Hardly what you would call welcoming. The bathroom, although clean, was in need of decorating, as was the bedroom - vast expanse of dirty white walls, not even a picture to break the tedium. I'm glad I was only here for one night - I would have checked into the Travelodge down the road, at least you know what to expect with one of those.
The only positive thing about the hotel was lively and friendly barman, who did his best to make the very limited bar menu look appetising. The steak (which was supposed to come with roasted vegetables) was fine, but did not come with the advertised veg - rather a limp piece of lettuce.
Breakfast was mediocre - tinned mushrooms, soft beans, etc. - you get the picture.....
To add insult to injury, we were woken at 6.30am by a delivery lorry reversing past our bedroom window.
This is the only hotel where I have ever filled in the guest feedback form - they haven't even had the courtesy to write and apologise for the state of the hotel.
Avoid.
