Having stayed in so many hotels throughout the UK on Business, it is great to have finally found what I would consider to be simply the best hotel in the UK, not a title I would give away easily as I am a very fussy Customer! The staff are superb, really friendly and helpful always taking an interest in you as a person, you certainly will not be just a number in this hotel. The hotel is set in a wonderful location very scenic, around a lake with boats available for fishing and a golf course. There is also a swimming pool and a gym. The rooms are very clean, comfortable, spacious and well equiped. You will be guarenteed a great nights sleep, there is no noise, a real bonus for me.The food is simply excellent and very reasonably priced. It is great to find somewhere to relax after a hard day in the office, a real home from home.

Like the hotel advertises it is a “Gem in a hidden valley” My partner treated me to a weekend away and he couldn’t have chosen a lovelier spot for a bit of R & R. We both enjoyed every element of our time spent at the Waterton Park. And who’d have thought it in a place like Wakefield! We were staying in the newer part of the hotel (on the mainland) our room overlooked the lake and older building on the island which made for a beautiful awakening on a morning, a lovely way to start the day. The size & d?cor of our room was fantastic, we thought we’d been upgraded however it seems all the rooms were just as gorgeous as ours (We asked to have a look at some of the other rooms – cheeky but fun!) With us staying for two nights we dined in both the main restaurant and Charlies Bar. The food and service in both were second to none. In fact the service from all staff in each department, no matter where we bumped into them, was great. Oh and whilst we were there we got to see a very happy couple celebrating their wedding. The pictures must be wonderful! Well as you can probably gather I had a great time at the hotel, and would recommend it to anyone. We will certainly be going back.

Excellent Business Stay

I have just stayed at this hotel on business and found the refurbished accomodation to be excellent value. The hotel is split between two locations which are linked by a delighful bridge to the main house on an island. The main house on the island is very elegant and the food on the a la carte menu was very good. The staff are extremely friendly and made my stay their very pleasant. Only down side was the changing rooms for the swimming pool. They do need to spend a little and tart them up a bit. Apart from that I would recommend this hotel.

Staff really friendly, helpful etc etc. Beautiful surroundings. Room the size of a football pitch. Swimming pool had a great view over the lake but the pool and changing facilities were a little shabby and in need of sprucing up. Nonetheless, I'd definately go back.

We got married here in August 2007 and it was absolutely amazing and exceeded all of our expectations! Although we reside in Dorset, we chose to marry here as there is absolutely no venue in the south that suited us like this venue did - stunning, high level of service, remarkably priced, stunning views - just exceptional! We stayed for three nights, with our final night being our wedding night - the first night we were in Waterton on the car park side - the room was absolutely stunning - very clean, gorgeously decorated, huge bathroom! It had a sumptious 4 poster bed and a chaise lounge - really nice. We went for dinner over to Walton Hall over the pretty footbridge - the food was amazing. For three courses and wine, we paid about £55, of which is great for a gormet restaurant. The restaurant is beautifully decorated, despite what someone else said within these reviews - very stylish and contemporary. On the second night, we are separate rooms (obviously - LOL!) and my room was ENORMOUS! I think it was room 59 at the top of the stairs, which was perfect as the ceremony was at the bottom of the stairs. I had views of undulating countryside and the golf course. The weather was nice, so we sat in the garden and had PIMMs with our guests. Be aware of wasps though, as it is set within a nature sanctuary, so there are a few. The day of the wedding was gorgeous weather, despite what was really a non-summer year. The staff were absolutely amazing! They really took care of us and all of our guests. The food was great, the setting was great, just everything was spectacular! If you are going to visit, the hotel is ideal for a nice romantic getaway - you couldn't get much better for views and peace.
