AliciaV has stayed here and says:
"This hotel is wonderful and I can't wait for an excuse to return. Friendly efficient staff, excellent food at very reasonable price, lots of choice of bars, seating, verandahs, balconies and provision for smokers on one balcony or outside. The Premium rooms are well worth paying extra for: we had a large..."

Stayed for one night DBB with 2 rounds of golf - special offer. Course in good condition, useful course planner, excellent practice facilities. Room was a small double (2 singles pushed together and overlooking the golf course) in need of updating and the balcony needed a good clean. No ironing board, iron or accessible full length mirror and no moisturiser in the bathroom. A nice touch was the small gift of 2 little Easter eggs each - delicious! Chose the mixed grill from the dinner menu - do these places pre-cook this? It was awful and lay like a brick until the next evening. Wine list was excellent. Breakfast was the usual cooked affair with strange tasting 'fresh' grilled tomatoes. The cleaning staff really need to dust the table holding the restaurant wine display it is embarrassingly dirty. Yes, we would stay again, because the location and golf facilities are convenient for our purposes but only if the same deal was available.

We were nervous about staying in a hotel with our two small children but Ufford Park made it a pleasure. The staff were friendly throughout the hotel from managers to chamber maids. As we were travelling with Grandparents and Uncle/Aunt it was great that we had three rooms together at the end of a corridor, near the spa. Two of the rooms had an adjoining doors which was very useful. Close to our rooms (403 to 405) there was a small lounge area which would have been useful to sit in while the children were asleep (if they had gone to sleep!). Our baby monitor easily picked up a signal there and anyone going to the room would have had to pass us. Our little boy loved the fact that he could go swimming every day. The food wasn't outstanding and the decor wasn't exciting but it was certainly pleasant and good value and in a nice location. My only gripe would be the hairdressers. I booked a blow dry as I was going to a wedding and it was possibly the worst one I have evey had. I could have done it better myself. I think I got the work experience girl!

Stayed at the Ufford Park Hotel at the beginning of October for a week of meetings. Overall this is quite a nice hotel in a lovely location. The rooms (mine was a twin) were okay. All the usual stuff including an iron and ironing board. The bathroom is basic but very clean. The tv is very basic with no pay per view options at all and no games (if you take kids). Only had breakfast in the hotel which was good with everything on offer. Thr room can get crowded at times, but the staff are always pleasant. Can't comment on the lunch or dinner but colleauges said they were fine. The hotel reception staff were a bit grumpy and I thought they looked down there noses at me in a "who are you and why are you bothering me" type of way. The fitness facilities are superb, plenty of cardio machines, 2 rowers, 2 steppers, 4 cross trainers, bikes, treadmills etc. There are a few weights but not many. The gym was empty most of the time and all the machines have the audio links via your own headphones. The pool is excellent with spa, steam room and sauna. Once again never very busy at night when I went. If you're a golfer then I have no doubt this is another excellent facility of the hotel. There is a driving range and what appears to be a top course (PGA apparently whatever that is), but i'm not a golfer so don't hold me to that! All in all this is a just above average hotel room wise, but makes up for it with excellent leisure facilities, gym, spa and a very nice location.

We stayed here one night in September 2007 with our 6 year old son. We rang the hotel as we drove along the A12. The receptionist was very helpful in describing the superior family room she suggested for us. I also asked if any functions were on as it was a Friday night and she told us there was a wedding but assured us we would not hear it from our room due to the configuration of the hotel. We were a bit sceptical but it was getting late, so we took a chance. We had been staying the last two nights in a cubby hole at the Marks Tey Hotel near Colchester, so the room at Ufford Park was a spacious, light and airy dream compared with that. The room had been recently refurbished and furnishings were clean and fresh, the beds were comfortable, and room/bathroom were very clean. The rooms are in the roof space of the building, so there are slanting skylight style windows which let in plenty of fresh air. We overlooked the large car park, which suited us on this occasion as we wanted to be away from the function rooms. The rooms overlooking the golf course have a nicer aspect and some have balconies. We ate in the very pleasant restaurant which is not overly formal, but has a nice menu including one for kids. We had a great time chatting with the Kenyan restaurant manager, all the staff in there were super-friendly. Breakfast next day was also very pleasant buffet style with nice touches like local bio yoghurts. And the receptionist was right, we were not disturbed one jot by the wedding party, we couldn't hear a thing. We used the swimming pool the next morning, which our son enjoyed. The only gripe was that the rather surly "lifeguards" told us they were not allowed to let us use the hotel's flotation aids. Seemed a bit odd, didn't matter as we had his armbands with us, but we got the feeling that it was too much effort on their part rather than hotel policy. Would certainly stay here again. I agree with previous posters that it's not a place you would pick out to go to of itself unless you are a golfer, but if you are travelling around East Anglia and need a stopover, it beats Travel Inns/Lodges hands down. And at £99 for the three of us, it was pretty reasonable.
