we had our wedding there which was well organised by bobby and the team no complaints at all was a fantastic day. the food was very good.the day did seem like a blur as i couldnt take it all in but i no it was very good. the evening was good to but only a couple things, firstly the buffet was excelent but they never put our cake out so guests could see it ,they never even had a piece in the evening so we had loads left the next day and we never even thought about it. the barstaff were not that good though one kept getting drinks mixed up which guest complained to me about and they ran out of blackcurrent so i didnt have a lot to drink, they have 3 bars in there they could have gone and seen if there was any about but never mind.but all in all it was a fantastic day.
we had the 4 poster bedroom in our package which had just been decorated it had an ensuite it was very tastefully decorated bed seemed huge very comfy but couldnt have window open as trafic noise bit load but we new that anyway.one thing again we should have had bottle of wine in our room as it said you did in the package but never did i no its petty but it was our wedding night.also ordered breakfast in bed the night before for 9.30 in morning when it was late we rang down and they said they had no knowledge of it but sent some up any way which we thought was a bit off.the breakfast was ok. i do admit the decor needs updateing a bit but for a 3 star hotel it isnt bad. the reception staff where ok some could smile a little though it make you feel more welcome.

Ok, so seemingly the rooms have been upgraded, which the rest of the hotel is in dire need of.....but this is not my complaint, as the bedrooms were actually clean.
I stayed at the New Continental as I working at a exhibition at the pavilions, so location was great.
But... the noise.... wow..., there was an event going on in the ballroom (slightly lavish desription for a hotel that has seen better days) that had a full on music system, maybe great if you're at the event, not so great gone midnight when you're trying to sleep, and you can hear every lyric clearly from the music pulsating into your bedroom.
The following morning I went to discuss this with the receptionist, to be told there had never been any complaints and besides there were no events booked for the following evening. GREAT Customer service!
I won't go into too much detail about the fire alarms that went off three times the following night around midnight....
If you're after ignorant staff and a sleepless night, book a place at the New Continental.

Hotel reception, Ball Room, Corridors are very dated, looks like last decorated in the 70s. Stopped their with a few work mates and spent most the time laughing at the decor. Rooms had recently been redone and were of a good standard, although quality of materials used very poor. Hotel is used by the coach company tours. Staff were polite and breakfast was fine infact by the next morning I quite liked the hotel. Too expensive for quality of stay.

On checking into the hotel, the receptionist was not as welcoming as she could be and demanded payment for the room immediately. The lobby and hallways are quite dark and dated and I was fully expecting the room to be the same. However the room and bathroom had recently been refurbished to a good standard. I had a really good nights sleep. It was very quiet in the hotel, saying that it is very close to the city centre I attended a function at the hotel and found the bar and waiter/waitress service very good, The dining room (I think was called the Executive Restaurant) needs updating and bringing upto date. Although I ate the breakfast (after a late night and a few drinks) I thought that better quality produce could be used. However for the price I paid for a double room, it was good value for money. The carpark is charged at £1 a night - a fair price for a city centre parking. The hotel is within a two/three minute walk of the city centre and within five minutes - maybe ten if you take a leisurely stroll - you can be on the Hoe/Seafront.
