"This is the BEST hotel in Lucca area. We had junior suite with the huge terrace overlooking the Lucca. Great room, great service, and great restaurant. One of my favorite hotels. "

A good hotel at EUR 200 a night--a terrible hotel at EUR 600 a night!

I recommend this hotel for: Tourists, Young singles, An amazing honeymoon.
The problems with this hotel are two: the price and its star rating. This is a nice, little, no frills hotel and should be priced at EUR 200 per night. We had a tiny suite (a small double room attached to a small single room) and spent EUR 600 per night. The lobby is tiny and uninspiring. The hallways are small and claustrophic, the ceilings low and the bedrooms are furnished in the manner that you would expect with a 2 or 3 star hotel. The floors are that manufactured, cheap no scruff wood that you find in industrial offices. The bathrooms have no bathtubs and the shower is a high tech, cheap, plastic affair. We did, however, appreciate the individual and original artwork in the bedrooms. It isn't that the staff are unfriendly, it's more to the point that since it is a small, medium luxury hotel there isn't much staff to speak of. We were flabberghasted upon arrival. We don't miind paying high prices for a truly luxurious hotel. This was paying a lot for an average, at best, hotel. The juxtaposition was incredible as we arrived today at the St. Regis in Rome which is truly a 5 star hotel. The Hotel Noblesse would be like the teenage gameroom to the St. Regis--at approx. the same price. Again, I don't fault the Hotel Noblesse other than pricing their hotel like a real 5 star hotel. I fault those rating agencies that gave it a 5 star hotel. I doubt seriously that they will have many return clients at these prices. I'd go back at EUR 200 but not at EUR 600.

Beware of the noise from the restaurant

Just returned from a 6 night stay at the Hotel Noblesse. The hotel itself is excellent--hotel staff (Veronica and Sarat especially) were very helpful, rooms were a good size with all amenities and very clean. Excellent location in the historic part of the city. Beware of the restaurant! There is a big difference between the hotel and the restaurant -- there must be two different owners. Staff at the restaurant aren't trained,(unlike the hotel staff), and don't have a clue--Service for evening meal is terrible. Food was tasteless tourist fare, and the noise from the piped in music makes you feel like you're eating in a disco. Unfortunately, our lovely room overlooked the pretty courtyard, which housed the garden restaurant. Music was on from 5pm until midnight every night at a very, very loud level. You could hear the words to every song, even with the double glazed windows closed, the air conditioning on, and the TV on. We asked the staff one night to turn down the music--which they for a few hours, but then it was on full blast again. Can't figure out why the restaurant standards are so far below the 5 star standards in the hotel. Not what we expected for 375 Euros a night--it felt like we were staying above a pub/disco. Other than this one major problem, the rest of our experience at the Noblesse was very good. So if you book a room, make sure its not overlooking the courtyard restaurant.

We spent 3 nights here recently. We decided to splurge on the Noblesse after reading TA reviews of other Lucca hotels. If you go back far enough on all of them there are serious flaws like mosquitoes in the room, rubber pads on the bed, surly staff, strip mall location, a/c didn't work etc etc. We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. After coming off an all night trans continental flight we wanted to be assured of climate control, good beds and peace and quiet. The room could be made as chilly as we liked but the a/c shuts off if any windows are opened or when you leave the room. The mattress was firm but very comfortable. Bed linens were good. The shutter operated electrically and sealed off the French doors completely to light and noise. Sound proofing was excellent- we heard no street noise or noise from other rooms. The hotel is located on a quiet little square. The shower had a high tech, pricey control with numerous jets of water coming at all angles. Breakfast was excellent and served in a stunning room- I have to disagree with the previous reviewer. We saw no flies. You could eat outside on the patio in good weather or indoors. The breakfast waiter was excellent and accommodating. One morning he was quite busy (another staff member was absent) and it took about 10 mins to get scrambled eggs. Eggs were not on the buffet but you could request them. Our coffee cups were constantly replenished with delcious espresso drinks. We were too tired the first evening to go out for dinner and ate at the hotel. Our waiters were outstanding and professional. There was a quiche appetizer that was excellent but my seafood and fish in parchment tasted a little strong and my husband felt his veal was kind of dry. It was also expensive so doubt we would eat there again. Overall, we had mediocre dining experiences while in Lucca. We decided against Bucca Sant Antonio after hearing mixed reviews. The Puccini arias at the Basilica Di San Giovanni were a highlight of our trip to Lucca. Our room decor was beautiful with antiques and Oriental rugs. Good natural lighting, bedside lighting and cross ventilation via French doors and a window in the bathroom. The entire hotel was very attractively decorated and we did not find it gaudy or vulgar in the least. Staff- overall we were happy with the staff. There was one sourpuss at the front desk- a young man who made a sour face at everyone- other staff, his superiors etc and he was a pain. He did, however, accomplish our requests but not in a pleasant, happy manner. I would stay there again despite this one person because he was not rude or surly just an unhappy person. Parking is an additonal 25 E per night. The hotel has a garage a short distance away and each time you want your car you have to request it. Getting our car unloaded on arrival and our things brought to our room was also a little slow- took about 30 mins for the sourpuss to help us. Driving into Lucca was a nightmare. It took us a long time to get there from the Pisa airport. GPS does not work in walled towns. My recommendation is to go to via Santa Croce, ask for help to find Noblesse and walk to the hotel. You might need a hotel staff member to ride with you and show you how to arrive and depart by car. Be sure to take the hotel's phone number with you in case you have to call. We ran into many other tourists in a similar predicament- had spent hrs circling around trying to find their hotels. We paid 375E per night for our superior, non suite room which seemed excessive but hotels in Italy are very expensive. If I had paid 525E as the previous reviewer did for a non suite I would have also been unhappy and more critical perhaps. If we return to Lucca, we will stay at the Noblesse again.

a problem on arrival, incorrect booking not hotels fault. But still given a tiny double room for 2 people but charged at normal rate. This hotel is by no means a 5 Star. The red leather bed was offensive and the overall decor was oppulent bordering gaudy. The food was below average, risotto had no seasoning whatsoever. Desserts mediocre. Breakfast in a 5 star hotel was appalling. No hot choice and service no-one was to be seen. Cold meats left uncovered and flies all over. All for 525 euros. Please read our review for Castello di Velona to see what a true 5 star should be.

Following a recommendation from a friend of the owner we decided to book 3 nights at the Noblesse which is in a great position in the centre of Lucca. The property can be best described as a boutique hotel with lots of different sized rooms in some old and well restored buildings. The hotel is family run and it shows with nothing too much for their guests although not all the staff speak english to well so it sometimes takes a few minutes to be understood. We had a great 2 room suite with 2 bathrooms although no bath in either. The rooms each had flat screen TV's and were very comfortable if on the small side. Best of all was that despite its central location it was very quiet. Food was good and served in an enclosed courtyard although getting a cooked breakfast was a bit of a struggle as the waiter seemed to double as the short order cook! Overall a very pleasant stay in a delightful small town which itself is centrally located for exploring northern Tuscany. The hotel has its own car park so despite the narrow streets its possible to get in and out of Lucca to Florence in about 1 hour 30 minutes or the seaside at Forte de Marmi in about 45 minutes ,both of which we visited during our 3 day stay in Lucca.
