Goods:
- The pool area is scenic and quiet, a nice retreat from the filthy and loud part of town just down the hill.
Others:
- If you can't get one of the few rooms near the pool (you'll pay extra and make sure you get the reservation IN WRITING or they'll stick you in the main building), you'll get a lot of street noise.
- Agree with the previous reviewer on the attitude of the personnel at the pool. Additionally, the owner's children are an almost constant nuisance, kicking balls, riding scooters and toy tractors, splashing and generally making a lot of noise. Furthermore, they have a rule that you must wear a swim cap to get in the water. Mind you this rule is not posted anywhere. The way you find out about it is when the old woman watching the children starts screaming at you in Italian.
- In general, the customer service can be described as apathetic (with notable exceptions regarding certain few persons).

I've stayed at the Montespina three times over the past three years and enjoyed every visit. Twice by myself and once with my wife. Naples is a hectic city, so escaping to the Montespina compound, which sits atop a secluded mountain not far from the Agnano exit off the Tangenziale (toll road), was always very welcome after a long day. In addition, the Bagnoli train station is walking distance from the Montespina if you'd rather not fight the traffic.
The staff is exceptionally friendly and courteous and will do whatever is necessary to improve your visit.
The restaurant serves good food, but I also ate at the Two Pearls just down the road. It is well within walking distance, serves terrific food (the margherita pizza is to die for), and has a nice view of a busy intersection providing a continuous stream of near-collisions more thrilling than any NASCAR race.
Naples airport is less than 20 minutes away (non-rush hour), which is also very convenient.
I will continue to stay at the Montespina on any future visits to that area.
