I was not expecting such a lush and friendly hotel even at these prices! Very pleasantly surprised by simply every aspect of the hotel. Tucked away down side street but very close to everything the room was quiet and comfortable. The front desk staff were beyond friendly and helpful. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

My boyfriend and I have just come back from a long weekend in Lucca for a friends wedding and we spent four nights at Palazzo Alexander.
I didnt read any of the reviews before I went but like many had had a good noise around the website. The hotel more than lived up to our expectations, the staff were so friendly, nothing was too much trouble and were so welcoming after a long journey.
The room although not huge (we had a superior room not a suite) was beautifully decorated in traditional furniture and they have clearly paid a lot of attention to detail when they renovated it. The bathroom had a lovely big shower which is very powerful, and all the mod cons you could want (heated towel rail, hair dryer etc). The bed was comfortable with extra pillows in the cupboard.
The walls are quite thin, which means you can hear your neighbours, but we spent so little time in our room as the city is so lovely it didnt concern us.
The breakfast was good, plenty of rolls and crossiants, fresh meats and cheeses and yummy pastries. Great hot chocolate.
Nice to have complimentry internet for the odd email checking.
The city of Lucca is gorgeous, some really great restaurants and shops. Well worth a visit.

Myself, my daughter and grandaughter had a lovely four night stay at the Palazzo Alexander staying in the lovely Tosca suite. Whilst not five star of course, it was very cosy and had a very Italian feel. The room had a lovely balcony, a jacuzzi and was generally lovely. There was a pretty little lounge with a small library and a pretty breakfast room with bar. The staff were lovely, relaxed and kind - particularly, perhaps, I think it was GianLuca or Giovanni (Im not sure of his name) who helped us so much and bought us lots of lovely cups of tea and, sometimes, cake. There was free internet access, lovely breakfast and generally the most lovely service. We all absolutely loved our stay and would definitely come back and recommend this to anyone. On the fourth night another of my daughters happened to stay in our room as she was too tired and unwell to go back to her hotel (she'd been to a wedding) and they were very nice about this although they did charge us which, I guess, was fair enough. All in all a wonderful experience with very very nice staff who helped us (particularly in satisfying our English lust for tea!) and made our stay memorable, happy and wonderful. We did ring and ask for a room on the way back for half a day to store our suitcases etc. but they didn't have a room and couldn't store our cases which was a shame. We would all most definitely and heartily recommend this for anyone wanting a lovely, cosy, welcoming authentic Italian experience. Thank you to all at the Palazzo Alexander

We just returned from a two week vacation in Tuscany that included two nights stay at the Palazzo Alexander. We couldn't have been more pleased with our choice of hotels.
The Palazzo Alexander is inside the walls about five minutes away from the bus station and Porta San Donato. Its location puts it just a short walk away from most of Lucca's attractions and restaurants.
The rooms were comfortable, clean and well appointed. The bed was comfortable and provided a good night's sleep. The bathroom was clean with plenty of hot water for showers. Breakfast was included and was quite tasty. A good selection of breads, pastries, juices, meat and cheese, plus coffee, tea and cappuccino.
The staff was delightful. Very friendly and helpful, providing suggestions for meals and directions. They even took care of the reservations for us.
All in all, we would definitely stay here again.
