We thoroughly enjoyed our 10 days in Umbria and the Hotel Poledrini was the ideal home base for exploring the region. The hotel is extremely comfortable, if not especially charming or luxurious. The rooms were comfortable and immaculate. Even the single room had a king sized (2 put together) bed. The bathroom had the best shower and towels we have ever experienced in Europe. Amenities included a hairdryer, phone, small tv, desk with deep drawers, and a very large closet. The breakfast (included) was excellent, including yogurt, cereals, juices, fruit, pastries, croissants and rolls, and meats and cheeses. I wouldn't particularly recommend the restaurant, but there are so many fine nearby restaurants that it is not a concern. The hotel's location is ideal for both within Foligno and as a home base for exploring Umbria. It is just down the street from the train station. It is accessible by car but also abuts the pedestrian medieval historic center. So joining in the evening passegiata to dinner was a delight. I'd rate the service a 3 (out of 5) only because there wasn't really any except fine housekeeping. The staff was friendly, but no real services were provided. Which was fine with us. We don't need luggage carried or room service. It is a very comfortable place to stay in and useful as a place to explore both Foligno and the entire Umbrian region. But I wouldn't call it a destination of its own. Except to sleep, we never really spent much time there. Finally, the parking garage is an experience all by itself with its iron gates and funky automatic opening. But it is secure and was included in the rate and is much easier than the seldom available off street (sidewalk) parking.

I dieci giorni che abbiamo passato in Umbria sono stati bellissimi; l’Hotel Poledrini è il punto di partenza ideale per esplorare la regione. L’albergo era comodissimo, anche se un pochino anonimo e non particolarmente lussuoso. Le camere erano accoglienti e immacolate. Anche la singola aveva un bel letto matrimoniale. Il bagno aveva una doccia bellissima e i migliori asciugamani che abbiamo trovato in Europa. I servizi a disposizione includevano fon, telefono, una piccola TV, scrivania con cassetti molto profondi e un armadio molto grande. La colazione, inclusa nel prezzo, era eccellente e comprendeva yogurt, cereali, succhi di frutta, cornetti e brioche, pane, carni fredde e formaggi. Non consiglierei particolarmente il ristorante dell’albergo, ma ce ne sono talmente tanti di buoni nei paraggi che non è un problema. L’ubicazione dell’hotel è ideale sia per visitare Foligno che come punto di partenza per esplorare l’Umbria e si trova a quattro passi dalla stazione ferroviaria; inoltre è accessibile in macchina, ma, allo stesso tempo, si trova a ridosso del centro storico medievale che è pedonalizzato così la passeggiata serale dopo cena è una vera delizia. Al servizio darei 3 (su 5) semplicemente perché non c’era un servizio vero e proprio, eccetto quello eccellente di governante. Il personale era sì cortese, ma non provvedeva alcun servizio il che ci andava benissimo: non abbiamo bisogno di persone che ci portino i bagagli o del servizio in camera. Il Poledrini è un posto molto accogliente dove stare ed è utile come punto di riferimento per esplorare sia Foligno che tutta l’Umbria, ma non lo considererei una meta per sé; eccetto che la notte per dormire, non ci abbiamo passato molto tempo. Infine, il garage del parcheggio è unico nel suo genere con i suoi cancelli di ferro e il suo originale meccanismo di apertura automatica; tuttavia è sicuro ed è incluso nel prezzo, inoltre è molto più facile parcheggiare lì che dover trovare posto in strada lungo il marciapiede dove parcheggi sono raramente disponibili.
