I stayed here with a bus tour. It is far away from town and has nothing except a view to recommend it. All of the food was cold, even the pancakes at breakfast.
We did have a very nice gentleman behind the front desk during our Christmas stay.

Hotel bellissimo, moderno, luminoso e molto confertevole.
Le camere sono spaziose e molto pulite.
Lo staff è cortesissimo e disponibile.
Un hotel eccezzionale. Ha solo 2 difetti:
- è lontano dal centro
- raggiungerlo non è facilissimo.
Per il resto hotel più che consigliabile.

This place sucked. The rooms smelled and the carpet needed changing. The location was not the best unless you had a car or took a taxi in to the town. To walk to town, you are on a narrow path besides a major roadway. Staff were rude and not helpful.

Fine hotel across the river

My wife and I stayed one night in early May 2005. The hotel was very clean, the room above average, the view (of Coimbra) from the room spectacular, and the breakfast (hot, with several meats) excellent. The hotel caters to person with their own transportation, which also means there is adequate and safe free parking outdoors next to the hotel. The hotel itself does not provide good driving directions in its literature. It is next to the N-1, clearly visible as a large white building halfway up the hill immediate east of the new, modern suspension bridge on the south side of Coimbra (hotel is in Santa Clara across the river east from Coimbra proper). There were two small business conference groups also using the hotel while we were there.

Nice, but a car is needed

I stayed for two nights during Easter. The hotel staff were nice. The room was large and had a nice view of the new bridge and the river but the room wasn't as clean as those I stayed in elsewhere in Portugal - there were four or five of someone else's hairs stuck on the bathroom wall which was a bit off putting.
The main difficulty for me was the distance from the city centre. It cost about 8 - 10 Euros in a taxi to get there and there was no bus service. If you are fit you could probably walk the couple of kilometres there and back but I don't fit into that category so I probably wouldn't stay again unless I had a car.
