I stayed in "Monterosa" hotel for two nights in June. The personnel was very kind and ready to give an help kindly and professionally. Our room was dirty (hair in the bed and in the toilet). Fortunately they gave us suddenly another room. The structure is a little old but in a very quite place.

Io e mio marito abbiamo trascorso una notte all'Hotel Monterosa verso fine maggio 2007. Si tratta di un hotel tranquillo scostato rispetto alla strada dello struscio e dei negozi di Chiavari, una cittadina con uno stupendo centro storico medievale, notevoli edifici art nouveau e una magnifica cattedrale barocca del 17° secolo (non perdetevi l'interno). L'hotel sembrava più che altro rivolto ad una clientela d'affari, ma era stato appena ristrutturato ed era allestito con gusto con tanto di murales sulle pareti dei corridoi. La nostra camera era pulita e confortevole, ma piuttosto piccola e senza aria condizionata. C'era però un ventilatore che la teneva fresca. Il personale dell'hotel era gentile e disponibile. La colazione era un eccellente buffet. Ci siamo goduti un'eccellente cena ligure nel piccolo ristorante a gestione famigliare Vino e Cucina, a qualche isolato dall'hotel.

My husband and I spent one night at the Hotel Monterosa in late May 2007. It is a quiet hotel located off the charming walking/shopping street in Chiavari which has a fine medieval center, beautiful art nouveau buildings and magnificent 17C baroque cathedral (don’t miss the interior). Although the hotel appeared to be more of a business than a tourist hotel, it was newly renovated and nicely decorated with hand painted murals on the walls of the hallways. Our room was clean and comfortable, but rather small and lacked air conditioning, although a ceiling fan kept it cool. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was an excellent buffet. We ate a delicious Ligurian dinner at the tiny family run restaurant, Vino e Cucina, a few blocks away.

L’Hotel Monte Rosa è un vero gioiello incastonato nella bellissima città di Chiavari, vicino a Portofino. L’hotel si trova in prossimità dei negozi migliori e del mercato all’aperto e a piedi si arriva facilmente al favoloso lungomare. Questo è un posto della Liguria che non è ancora molto noto al turismo di massa. In città ci sono dei ristoranti fantastici e una gelateria semplicemente divina, che si chiama DeFilla, non potete assolutamente perdervela. La stazione ferroviaria è a pochi passi dall’hotel, molto comodo per andare alla scoperta delle altre cittadine sulla costa. Al Monte Rosa il servizio è eccellente, il personale è gestito dall'affabile e disponibile Olga della reception. Gli addetti alla ricezione parlano un inglese perfetto e sono sempre a disposizione degli ospiti per qualsiasi cosa. Olga ci ha aiutati a pianificare il nostro viaggio a Roma, suggerendoci una magnifica cittadina dove avremmo potuto fermarci durante il tragitto. Per noi Chiavari è una vera città italiana, non è invasa dai turisti. Non vediamo l’ora di tornare in questo posto così speciale.

The Hotel Monte Rosa is an absolute gem in the wonderful city of Chiavari, near Portofino. Situated by the best shopping and open air morning market, you can walk to the gorgeous promenade on the ocean. This is the best kept secret in Liguria and the city has incredible restaurants and a heavenly gelateria called DeFilla that cannot be missed. The train station is a short walk and convenient for visiting other towns on the coast. The service at the Monte Rosa is first class, led by the delightful and helpful Olga at the front desk. The front desk staff speaks perfect English and is always available to help make your stay memorable. Olga helped us map out or stops to Rome, and suggested a beautiful town to stop along the way. To us, Chiavari is a real Italian town, not overly touristy. We look forward to returning to this special place.
