Spent five nights in the Neri, using it as a base for exploring Lipari and the other Aeolian Islands. They are all interconnected by a speedy and reliable hydrofoil service out of the (very small) port 600m away. It's easy to reach; just walk 400m up the main Corso until just before a church (and just after the bakers) on the right hand side, then cut through an alley on your right (next to the tabacchi) and you can see the pink-coloured Neri straight ahead in the near distance. A sizeable villa, built I'd guess in the late 1800s, the rooms are spacious and the en-suite clean. Ours had great views from the balconies off our bedroom and - round the corner - off our bathroom, the first of the hills behind Lipari and the old Roman burial ground, the second of the Duomo and fortress dominating the town. Alessia and Patrizia were charming, friendly and continually helpful, and breakfasts were huge. A marvellous place to stay, and pretty inexpensive too. Well recommended. We'd have no hesitation of staying there again if we go once more to the Aeolians.

I loved the Hotel Pensione Neri! I found it listed as a hostel, but it is a restored villa with only about 8 rooms and the best and biggest breakfast we had in 5 weeks in Italy. The directions from the dock are a little confusing and we got lost looking for it. We discovered the next day that there is a quick and charming shortcut only minutes from the main street. The room and bathroom were huge and the staff gracious and very helpful.

We stayed at Pensione Neri for one night in June as we missed our connecting hydrofoil to Panarea. The staff were very welcoming and really bent over backwards to accommodate us, including getting up really early to offer us breakfast and a packed lunch for the trip! Rooms were clean and spacious. We had a great view, but it was a bit of a pain having to walk up the hill!
