"We stayed there for 5 nights in November 2004 and had no complaints. The prior review about the "40's" rooms is very accurate. Our view was breath taking. We found the staff there very helpful when asked. Otherwise, they left you alone. I consider that a great complement. Breakfast was adequate, we got..."

I recommend this hotel for: Older travelers, An amazing honeymoon.
Deserves it's good reviews - charming (not tacky!), nice terraces with panoramic view - 20 min drive from Rome, didn't try public transport, in-house restaurant was closed on a Sunday night but lots of good choices within a few minutes walk. IMPOSSIBLY difficult to find - don't rely on mapquest - get precise instructions from staff if possible! Very friendly front desk/good English! Booked on Venere.com

We stayed at the Hotel for one night after our trip through Tuscany. We want to see Rome for 1 day and our airport Ciampino is not far away from Frascati. For Italian standard the hotel offers a good service. The room was very clean and the staff had been very friendly to us. The hotel is located near the old center of Frascati. So a lot of bars and restaurant around the hotel and you can reach them very easy by feet. We had been able to park our car directly in front of the hotel (with a special paper you got from the reception and to put behind the window), this was very comfortable. During the morning hours (about 08:00 am) and in the afternoon the streets from and to Frascati/Rome are a total traffic jam... But...anyway you should not consider to go to downtown Rome with your own car...it's like a survival trip... ;-) At all: Nice hotel, we would stay again (for 1 night, not for more). Have a nice trip to Italy!

Great out of town (Rome) hotel

Hotel was in an ideal location for those who do not wish to pay the prices of a central Rome hotel and want to be in the fresh air at the end of a long day sightseeing. The Hotel itself was clean and fresh. Our room had a balcony (as I think most did) which looked out over Rome (so we were told). Breakfast was included in our rate and was served in a small room (which for the time of year we went was ok but I'm not sure what happens if it gets busy in summer). Some fantastic restuarants and pizzerias in the town (which is very small). Not much to do in Frascati apart from eat and drink so our advise would be to stay in Rome until 7.00 ish and then return to Frascati to eat (as it's much better value than Rome itself). If we came to Rome again (which we will be doing as we threw one coin in the Trevi fountain!) we would stay at this hotel. Be aware that trains to Rome take around 30 mins and only run every hour during peak times. Very handy location for Ciampino airport as it's only a 10 min train ride and then 10 min bus ride away from the hotel (check times of trains though - especially on Sunday and bank holidays).

I have been staying at the Giadrina hotel during most of the period Jan to Oct 2005. Most of the time on my own (due to work) but my wife also visited several times. Before selecting the Giadrina hotel I stayed at or checked out several other hotels in Frascati. To me these are the main advantages of the hotel. -Central location in Frascati (very charming town) -Some rooms have large terrace with an excellent view -Nice rooms and bathrooms -Nearby parking lot behind/below hotel (about 2€/night). Around "busy hr" 6-7 pm you may have to wait a few minutes for a free space. -Very close to Railway station. Trip to Rome takes 30 min, ticket 1.7 € - Very friendly and service-minded hotel staff (some speak English) - Excellent value for the price The hotel does not have AC and during August there were a few very hot nights. However thanks to getting a fan in the room it was OK for me. The Cacciani restaurant in the hotel building is superb. 2005-11-04 Arne Palmkvist, Stockholm, Sweden

Stayed two nights here towards the end of June 2005. A good location with some nice views but hotel is very poor. Our room was not clean with human hair on bathroom floor and bedroom floor not swept. Terrace large but very grubby and balustrade covered in cobwebs and grime. Terrace light did not work and furniture old and rickety. On complaint staff did change us to another room which was slightly cleaner. Beware if using this hotel in summer months as there is absolutely no air conditioning! We had to sleep with doors open resulting in lots of insect bites. In breakfast room it was stifling and food not covered with flies buzzing around. Coffee was hot though!! Watch out for mini bar costs being added as both ourselves and our friends were presented with charges for things not used - this was waived when taken up at reception. Not so much as a thanks or cheerio when we left. This hotel is probably good in cooler months as a one night stop as there are other hotels close by with better facilities for less or similar rates. PS Rooms certainly do not look like website photographs!!
