We stayed at the Hotel Stella for 1 week off season during October 2006. (2 adults and 1 two year old child). First impressions were that the room containing three single beds (and a childs cot that we had pre arranged) was somewhat small but clean and adequate. The bathroom was extremely small but again clean with fresh towels that were changed daily. The room was also cleaned very well each day. During a call to reception we were advised that hiring the childs cot would incur a charge of 42 euros for the 7 night stay and were invited to pay for this immediately. We were aware that there was a charge but amazed at the cost for the hire of a small cot. Reception staff also advised that the indoor pool was available for 6 euro per visit which we accept is reasonable. As our daughter is two years old we were told that she was not allowed in the indoor pool ! (Children are allowed in the outdoor pool !?). The restaurant resembles more of a canteen with a large open expanse lacking character. Food on the daily morning and evening buffet was plentiful but little was to our liking. (Some fish dishes were quite good). Half Board option incurres charges for all drinks during your evening meal which you must pay for as you leave the restaurant each evening.
You are required to vacate your room on the day of departure at 1000hrs but can opt to pay a further 23 euro to hold the room until 1900hrs if available. In summary a clean well maintained modern hotel but not child friendly and with a few stelth charges. Reception Staff could be more inviting.

Our first surprise ; Dogs were in the hotel in the rooms with their owners. Our Grandchildren are a little nervous of dogs.
The Play area is lethal with metal swings no safety guard or rubber to prevent it hitting another child,
The Slide was at least 10 feet high if not higher.Old fashioned and dangerous.
There was also no gate between the park and the swimming pools.
Food was good but restuarant rather big and noisy.
Dont get me wrong the weather was great and we had a good time but WE ALSO SPENT TIME WORRYING ABOUT THE YOUNG CHILDREN IN AREAS THAT COULD HAVE BEEN SAFER AND MORE CHILD FRIENDLY.

This hotel was clean, comfortable and plenty spacious enough for the number of guests it accomodates. Food was plentiful and varied and even provided a champagne (cava) breakfast. It has a wonderful powerfull jacussi built into the swimming pool and air conditioning that has the ability to make the bedroom too cold.
Located in an underated part of Spain, the local train service (station within 5 minute walk of hotel) opened up the whole coast, Calella. Malgrat, Blanes and onward by boat to LLoret and Tossa, also a 50 minute ride into Barcelona for only 5 euros 50 return, an air conditioned ride with views of the sea the majority of the way dropping you in the heart of a beautiful city with a beach.
Stella is an ideal base to relax and an ideal base from which to explore this coast.

Just got back from Hotel Stella. 2 adults 1 child, Hotel was very clean & tidy fairly new. Air-conditioning was excellent. Food was good , not everything was to my taste but considering the different nationalities they have to cater for it was excellent. Beautiful Omelettes freshly cooked in front of you on the hotplate were my favorite breakfast dish.
5 minute walk to train station with easy access to Barcelona ( has to be seen). Resort is very quite, Sid's Bell Irish pub the best place to find the craic. Fran the Owner brought us into the Neucamp to see Barcelona Vs Milan, what a night that was.
The waterparc in loret has its own train station, worth a visit if you have kids, Queues for the bigger rides can be long though.
Biggest gripe has to be that old chesnut. people putting towels on the sun-loungers & reserving them, even though there are several signs requesting people not to do this. When I went down once for a wake me up swim about 9am. There were no sun-beds to be had although I had the pool to myself.
Overall I would say the hotel is well worth its 3 star rating.
